Designed to ensure you have all the education, tools and support you could need as you prepare confidently for your upcoming birth and the early days caring for your new baby. You can complete the full course or choose just the elements that are right for you.

Move, Breathe, Relax, Empower, Prepare.

Be Prepared is a fully comprehensive series of antenatal workshops that will help evoke feelings of positivity, togetherness and preparedness.

You and your partner will find this time invaluable, as you prepare together for your informed, positive birth and new baby.

The workshops cover:

Birth Preparations Session x 2Weekend 1 9.30-13.00

Antenatal Education

Learn about the labour process and journey and how to confidently work with your body to help labour move forward.

Tools to support decision making using scenarios.

What interventions might you encounter; what to expect and why.

Active Birth Education

Learn how to use biomechanics of birth education and Traditional Active birth techniques, positions, and movements to understand how to encourage the birthing journey.

Getting Prepared

What to pack for birth and the postnatal period, birth preferences, place of birth choices, when to contact Labour Line or your maternity unit and considerations of birth environments – home and/or birth room.

Pranayama (breathe work), Hypnobirthing and Relaxation Techniques

Learn to move, breathe, relax and empower… Together.

Learn breathing techniques to support relaxation and your birthing journey.

Learn Hypnobirthing techniques to support feelings of safety, comfort and relaxation.

Massage and Robozo Techniques for Pregnancy and Birth

Learn a wonderful range of massage, positive touch, holds and Robozo (scarf) techniques, lowering adrenaline levels and evoking the release of endorphins and oxytocin.

Role of Birth Partner

Supporting techniques and tools to fully inform the birth partner of this most vital role in your upcoming birth. A safe space for them to explore new techniques and ask any question they need in a relaxed space.

Postnatal and Baby Care x 1 – Weekend 2 09.00-13.45

Recovery in the 4th Trimester  

An understanding of a postnatal plan and maternity pathway and the birthing persons physical and mental health.

An understanding of a postnatal pathway and tests for baby checks and choices for your newborn.

Parenting Choices 

All types of parenting choices will be considered. For example: reusable wipes and nappies or disposables; to want a routine or to being more baby-led. Non-judgemental, evidence-based information discussed.

Baby Care Basics

Hands on experience of handling, holding, dressing, nappy changing, cord care, bathing and winding a baby (doll),

Baby Safety

Supporting confidence in current evidence-based recommendations and guidance for keeping your baby safe.

Calming and Cues

Gaining calming techniques and learning how to interpret baby’s cues will support you in those first few weeks.

Understanding Normal Newborn Sleep

An understanding of what consitutes normal newborn sleep and gaining a realistic expectation.

Role of Parents/Partners

Both new parents will have their own worries and concerns and we discuss how it might feel during the birth and the postnatal period. Bonding and actively caring for little one is so important, and you’ll learn how to do this with confidence.

CLASS INFORMATION

Workshops are for the pregnant person with their co-parent and/or birth partner. The Workshops are a non-judgemental environment supporting a safe and nurturing space to explore your birthing and parenting choices. Classes are adapted to suit all pregnancy related conditions and birth choices.

Saturday/Sunday morning workshops - 9am & 9.30am start times

WHERE?

The Stables in Meadow Cottage, Cherque Lane, Lee on the Solent, Hampshire, PO13 9PF

HOW LONG?

A series of 4 workshops, varying in length.

You can book these as individual workshops, subject to availalbilty or a full comprehensive antenatal course.

COST?

£280.00 for the complete 4 Workshops (Please see individual workshops for more information).

A comprehensive summary is emailed out following the Workshops with handouts and tool reminders as well as a group WhatsApp to offer ongoing support. Ongoing Registered Midwife Support

INSTRUCTIONS

Wear loose, comfortable clothing in which you can move freely.

A birthing ball, block or towel and a cotton (non-stretchy) scarf are required. However, if you do not wish to purchase a birthing ball (I highly recommend using one to support your comfort and balance) then I have some to be used during the workshop.

I will provide hot and cold drinks as well as snacks. Please do let me know if you have any allergies.
